AC Milan exclude 6 players from the Champions League squad list

AC Milan announce their 25 man Champions League squad list. Coach Pioli was forced to leave out six players for different reasons.

Like all the other clubs qualified for the Champions League group stage, AC Milan have presented to UEFA their 23 players squad list that can be deployed in the 6 matches of Group E. The Rossoneri will battle Chelsea, Red Bull Salzburg and Dinamo Zagreb starting from next week.

AC Milan coach Stefano Pioli has decided to leave out of the Champions League squad list six players. Three new signings will not be able to give their contribution during the groups stage. Yacine Adli, Aster Vranckx and Malick Thiaw have been left out. As well as goalkeeper Ciprian Tatarusanu, the injured Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Tiemoue Bakayoko.

The French midfielder refused all offers and has decided to stay at Milan despite being totally out of Stefano Pioli’s project. Bakayoko was even given the opportunity to terminate his contract but he opted otherwise. He will stay at least until January. Instead, Ibrahimovic is expected to return to full fitness in January.

In compiling the 23-man list, Milan had to follow the usual UEFA regulatory criteria that require the presence of at least 4 players trained in the club’s youth ranks (Calabria, Gabbia, Pobega, Kalulu), at least 4 Italian players and a maximum of 17 players not trained in Italian clubs during their career.
