AC Milan set to triple defender salary

AC Milan centre back Pierre Kalulu in in advanced talks with the club to extend his contract until 2027 with improved salary.

Pierre Kalulu immediately won the hearts of the AC Milan supporters with his excellent performances on the pitch. The 22-year-old defender played a key part in AC Milan’s Scudetto win this season making 28 Serie A appearances. Few could have predicted that the young Kalulu would take Romagnoli’s spot in Stefano Pioli’s starting eleven.

Even less were impressed when AC Milan decided to sign Kalulu from Lyon on a free transfer. Despite not making a single official appearances with the French club Pierre joined Milan’s first squad. Paolo Maldini had full faith in the French defender and time provide him right.

Kalulu’s current contract last until 2025 but AC Milan want to reward the young defender after a fantastic season. The French centre back is set to triple his wages to 1.5 million euros from the current half a million he receives. In a recent interview with Telefoot, the player confirmed his desire to stay.

When we celebrated the title on the streets of Milan I really understood the importance and influence of the club. It is enormous. We are talking about the contract extension with the club and with my entourage. When you are in the winning team, you want to stay there”, said the former Lyon.

Pierre Kalulu was instrumental especially in the second half of the season after Simon Kjaer’s injury. The 22-year-old formed a rock solid partnership with Fikayo Tomori and Mike Maignan. It’s still unclear how much opportunities will be given to the young cnetre back next season with AC Milan on the market to buy a new player and Kjaer close to completing his full recovery.
