AC Milan sign Brazilian starlet

MILAN TRANSFER NEWS – AC Milan have completed the signing of Brazil U-23 international Ivan Quaresma from Ponte Preta.

Ivan Quaresma Da Silva will be a new AC Milan from next June. The news first reported yesterday by Gianluca Di Marzio is now confirmed also by La Gazzetta dello Sport.

The young goalkeeper will turn 23 next July. Born in Brazil, he currently plays with Ponte Preta with whom he has a contract until June 2023. But in six months he should arrive in Italy to wear the Red and Black jersey. Ivan Quaresma is part of the Brazil U-23 national team.

Ivan will be one of AC Milan’s goalkeepers for next season. It remains to be seen whether he will be the second or third, given that Pepe Reina will also return from his 6-months loan at Aston Villa. At this point it’s unclear if Aston Villa have an option to sign Reina at the end of the season.

Besides Ivan and Pepe Reina, another goalkeeper who returns at Milan in the summer is Alessandro Plizzari. The Italian shot-stopper has made only 7 appearances with Livorno so far. Ivan on the other had is a regular starter with Ponte Preta and has been capped 5 times by Brazil U-23.

At the beginning of the January transfer window the Rossoneri hadn’t planed any investments in the goalkeeper role. The departure of Pepe Reina forced the club to sign Asmir Begovic for the remaining of the season while Ivan Quaresma will take his place in six months.
