New signing: Antonio Mionic player profile

In a quiet winter transfer window Antonio Mionic has become the first official purchase of AC Milan. The Croatian talent will join the Rossoneri on February.

A signing for the future. AC Milan announced yesterday the purchase of Antonio Mionic, Croatian 2001 born midfielder (17 years in May) who will join the Allievi U17 coached by Simone Baldo in February. For his signature, the Rossoneri beat the competition – among others – of Atalanta, who in the summer tried to anticipate the Rossoneri for the Croatian talent formed in the youth ranks of the Nk Istra 1961. Mionic joins Milan on a free transfer because the boy declined to sign a new contract with Istra. It is not yet clear if Milan will guarantee a sort of “training bonus” to his former club.

A true jolly who can cover multiple roles in midfield but his favorite position is that of central midfielder, even though he has no problems to adapt a few meters up front, in the typical number 10 playmaker role. Mionic is gifted with excellent individual technique and is very fast with the ball at his feet, one of his best qualities is dribbling in one-on-one situations.

During the current season he was part of the NK Istra’s Under-17 squad but due to the evident qualities he would have joined the Under-19 at the end of the winter break (10 December-25 February). A scenario that obviously will not occur, because in about 15 days he will start working on the training facilities of Vismara, the headquarters of the youth sector. The contract, already filed in Lega Calcio, is not yet executive. It will become so in the next few weeks. It is not yet clear if his family will follow him in this new adventure in Milano.
