Milan Primavera star promoted to first team

AC Milan new coach Marco Giampaolo will promote Primavera starlet Matteo Gabbia to the first team. The defender reached the World Cup semi-final with Italy U20.

MILAN NEWS – Now that the management core of AC Milan has been confirmed, Maldini and Boban, in coordination with coach Marco Giampaolo, are working to build the new AC Milan squad for the 2019/20 campaign.

The Rossoneri will rely a lot on young players and the orientation of Gazidis is to buy young players that could become stars in the future. However, not only signings, also youngsters of Milan Primavera will be given a chance to prove themselves at the highest levels. Starting with Matteo Gabbia.

Gabbia will be the first starlet of Milan Primavera to be promoted to the first team. Tuttosport reports that the 19-year-old centre back will be part of AC Milan’s first team after some great performances with Italy in the Under-20 World Cup.

AC Milan loaned Matteo Gabbia to Lucchese in Serie C last season where he made 29 appearances, finding the back of the net on one occasion. The talented centre back has also made 14 appearances with Italy U-20. Reaching the World Cup semi-final was the cherry on the cake for the Rossoneri defender.

However, Matteo Gabbia will not be the only player of Milan Primavera to play with the first team. New coach Marco Giampaolo wants to test even Daniel Maldini (son of Paolo) and Leroy Abanda during pre-season preparations. A golden opportunity for the AC Milan youngsters.
