Franck Kessie breaks Pirlo’s insane record

You can hardly remember the last time AC Milan started a game without Franck Kessie on the pitch. Without a doubt the former Atalanta is of the Rossoneri best players.

Since his arrival at San Siro last summer Franck Kessie has immediately imposed himself within the Rossoneri’s midfield becoming a regular starter in Gennaro Gattuso’s line-up. Despite his young age the 21 year old Ivory Coast international is one of the most important players of AC Milan.

Last season, in fact, Franck Kessie made 54 appearances between Serie A, Europa League and Coppa Italia. A true workaholic, the Ivorian midfielder, as reported by Tuttosport, remained on the pitch for 4,603 minutes. This way Kessie becomes the Rossonero with most minutes played in a single year, more than Andrea Pirlo, who in 2006-07 (the year of the last Champions League trophy) played an incredible total of 4,320 minutes.

Despite his fluctuating performances last year you can’t underestimate Kessie’s importance for the team. Hopefully “the tank” will continue his grown path. In the last Serie A game against Roma he offered an excellent display. Today, against Cagliari, he has the opportunity to replicate last season’s outing where the Red and Blacks secured a 2-1 victory thanks to his brace.
