Former Arsenal coach Arsene Wenger has been reported as the successor of Gennaro Gattuso at AC Milan.
Since the beginning of the season the permanence of Gennaro Gattuso at the helm of AC Milan has been in doubt. The new American management was apparently searching for a more prestigious name with Antonio Conte being the dream. Despite various rumors Leonardo and Paolo Maldini confirmed Gattuso declaring that the club is not in need of a new coach.
However, only a few negative results, were enough to cast distrust on Rino. General skepticism exist whether the former defensive midfielder is the right person to guide AC Milan towards new trophies. In recent weeks the media have reported about a Wenger-Milan discussion that has been going on for a while.
France Football went as far as to report that the Rossoneri have already reached an agreement with Arsene Wenger and that his appointment will take place in January. For the first time the former Arsenal coach decided to comment on these voices.
“I have already been asked about this but the only thing I can say is that it’s wrong news. If I had signed for some club I would tell you, but it is false. I can not control the rumors, I can only control what I do in my life. Now I’m focused on doing well as pundit at beINSports and it’s not easy“, said the Frenchman.
Arsene emphasizes that there is no agreement or signature with Milan. However, interestingly enough, he doesn’t comment if Wenger-Milan is a possibility or just a winter rumor. At the moment the management is backing Gattuso although the former Arsenal is a tempting option considering the beautiful football seen at the Emirates for years.
