AC Milan want Manolas to partner with Romagnoli

AC Milan have opened negotiations with AS Roma for Kostas Manolas. The Rossoneri want a top defender to partner with Romagnoli.

MILAN TRANSFER NEWS – AC Milan’s summer priority remains the midfield. With Jose Mauri, Bertolacci, Montolivo and Bakayoko already out, and Franck Kessie with Lucas Biglia in doubt, the Rossoneri’s midfield will undergo a true revolution.

However, the management is also planning important signings in defence. With the departure of Zapata and Abate, AC Milan need to make at least one purchase to complete the back-line. According to recent reports, the Rossoneri are challenging Juventus for one of the best centre backs in Serie A.

Gianluca Di Marzio and Sky Sport report that AC Milan have opened talks with Roma for Kostas Manolas. The departure of the Greek defender is guaranteed this summer after five positive seasons with the Giallorossi. Manolas is eager for a new adventure but would prefer to stay in Italy.

The 28-year-old defender has a 36-million euros release clause (33 go to Roma and 3 to the player) but the Rossoneri are hoping to reached an agreement for a total of €30 million. Roma need to sale one of their top stars until 30 June in order to respect UEFA’s Financial Fair Play and in all probability Kostas Manolas is going to be the sacrifice.

AC Milan and Roma and negotiating but Napoli and Juventus are also interested in Manolas. According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, Juventus have offered former Milan striker Higuain in exchange for the Greek centre back, however, Roma would pref a cosh-only operation. Something that Juventus, at least for now, can not afford. Maldini on the other hand is determined to give Giampaolo a fast and tenacious defender to partner with Alessio Romagnoli.
