AC Milan have entered negotiations with Chelsea director Marina Granovskaia for three Blues stars that are looking to abandon Stamford Bridge in January.

GARY CAHILL – Centre Back

The Rossoneri fans were caught by surprise when English media first revealed that Chelsea had offered AC Milan one of their most decorated players for free. In fact, 32 year old centre back Gary Cahill has been proposed to the Rossoneri on loan for the remaining of the season.

Cahill’s contract expires in the summer of 2019 but Chelsea are willing to let him go in January as a reward for his service during all these years. At Casa Milan, centre back are in short supply and an experienced veteran like Cahill could be a good solution for the current injury crisis.

The 61 times capped England international would bring precious experience at San Siro and can give a helping hand in Romagnoli and Caldara’s progress. The arrival of a player for free would allow Leonardo to sign another defender or invest more money in other areas.

There are two factors that sporting director Leonardo must take into consideration before making a final decision on such an interesting alternative. First, the player’s age. Gary Cahill turns 33 in one month and there are doubts over his long-term reliability. The second is economic. The defender ears around 8 million euros at Chelsea and it’s unclear if he can lower his demands to 3 million, the salary Milan intend to offer to a top defender.

AC Milan and Chelsea could sit at the negotiations table again with the Rossoneri interested in three Blues stars that are looking to abandon Stamford Bridge for the same reason.

CESC FABREGAS – Central Midfielder

The second Chelsea player being linked with AC Milan is World Cup winner Cesc Fabregas. The 31 year old central midfielder will be free to sign for any team he wants in January because he too soon becomes a free agent.

Fabregas is no longer the undisputed starter he once was under Antonio Conte or even Jose Mourinho. Things are not going well between him and new Chelsea coach Maurizio Sarri who sees Jorginho as the master of the Blues midfield.

Fabregas in reality is an old target of AC Milan. The Rossoneri have been trying to sign the Spaniard midfielder since his Arsenal days. Former sporting director Adriano Galliani tried on several occasions to secure his services but without success.

This would represent the best and last opportunity for Fabregas to grace San Siro. With Lucas Biglia and Giacomo Bonaventura injured AC Milan are in search of a new central midfielder. A player of Fabregas caliber and talent would be very useful to coach Gennaro Gattuso. The Rossoneri don’t need to wait for the summer since Chelsea are willing to sell him immediately now for a low fee in the region of 10 million euros.

ANDREAS CHRISTENSEN – Centre Back

Denmark international Andreas Christensen is the new name in Leonardo’s list of targets. As explained, AC Milan are in need of a new centre back. At least one because with captain Romagnoli, Caldara and Musacchio out, Zapata and Stefan Simic are the only two available defenders in that position until the end of December.

Christensen was a regular starter under Antonio Conte but things have changed since Sarri’s arrival. The former Napoli coach prefers David Luiz and Christensen has fallen downer the pecking order. He has made only 6 overall appearances this season but not a single one in Premier League.

It’s clear that Maurizio Sarri has different ideas for his team and Andreas must look for a new destination. Christensen, aged 22, is without a doubt one of the most promising defenders in the world and interest in him is not lacking.

It’s a very complicated operation for Milan considering the player’s young age and his price tag. Despite his repeated complaints over a lack of game time Chelsea are reluctant to put him on the market. According to rumors the London side value Christensen at 40 million euros. The Rossoneri’s idea is to propose a loan move with the right to buy at the end of the season.
