Exclusive: Leonardo in Brazil to close Everton Soares signing

AC Milan sporting director Leonardo has traveled to Brazil to close a deal for €40m rated Gremio star Everton Soares.

Since November 2018, acmilaninfo.com has extensively covered the Rossoneri’s pursuit of Gremio star Everton Soares. After joining Milan in the role of sporting director, Leonardo has continuously scouted Brazil for hot prospects that could join the Red and Blacks in the future. Except Paqueta, signed for 35 million euros in January, Everton is the second local talent Leonardo desperately wants at Milan.

A few weeks ago, asked about a possible transfer Everton himself declared he would be very happy to join Milan: “Why not? I even told Paqueta that, if everything goes well, we can soon be teammates. I’m very happy about the interest of a giant European team like Milan. Let’s see what happens“.

Since that time considerable progress has been made and AC Milan are very close to acquiring his services. Fox Sports Brasil reports that Leonardo has traveled to Brazil to close a deal for Everton Soares. Leo will met with the agents of Everton and later with Gremio management to block the Brazilian winger for the summer.

Soares has a 80 million euros release clause but Gremio are willing to sell him for half of that figure. According to reports, the Rossoneri will make an opening bid of 30 million. AC Milan want to close everything before the end of the season in order to avoid the competition of other big European teams. The club wants to implement the same strategy that worked well for Paqueta.

Elliot has promised it will invest heavily on the transfer market this summer, especially for young players with the potential of Everton Soares. After so many problems this year with Calhanoglu it seems that AC Milan have finally found the solution for the left wing. With 17 goals and many assists last season it looks like Everton could be precisely what Milan are missing.
