AC Milan want Italian midfielder to replace Reijnders

AC Milan want the 23-year-old Italy international to replace Tijjani Reijnders in case he leaves to join Manchester City.

At the end of the match against Monza, Giorgio Furlani was asked whether AC Milan would be selling Tijjani Reijnders this summer. The Rossoneri CEO responded in a very diplomatic was way “The way our club is managed, no sacrifices will be necessary“. However, the reality is quite different. AC Milan will close the season on a negative financial balance of 50-80 million and are already in talks with Manchester City regarding the future of the Dutch international.

As already reported by acmilaninfo.com, Pep Guardiola has made Tijjani Reijnders the number one target for the central midfield position. Now that the season is officially over for both clubs, the English heavyweights are expected to present their opening bid. Despite Fulani’s statements, AC Milan are already on the negotiation table and every player is on the market for the right price. The right price in this case could be close to €80 million, a figure that would make Reijnders the most expensive player sale in the club history,

At the same time the Rossoneri would need to bring in a substitute for the highly-rated Dutch midfielder. Under the guidance of new sporting director Igli Tare AC Milan will have more Italian players as part of their squad. The Italian midfielder projected to substitute Reijnders if he leaves is Samuele Ricci. The 23-year-old Torino captain is the primary target to strengthen the Rossoneri midfield this summer and will require a significant investment.

Samuele Ricci is mainly deployed as playmaker in front of the Torino defence. Gifted with excellent individual technique and sense of positioning, Ricci is one of the best Serie A midfielders in circulation. To a certain degree his style of play is very similar to that of Sandro Tonali, another important Milan player who was sacrificed under the guidance of RedBird and Furlani. AC Milan mad an unsuccessful attempt to sign Samuele Ricci in January and will resume his pursuit very soon.

Torino are open to let Samuele Ricci leave this summer for a fee of €35 million. On the other hand, AC Milan hope to secure the Italy international for a lower figure close to €30 million. A player that could be very useful to the Rossoneri in the negotiation talks for Ricci is Filippo Terracciano. The versatile AC Milan right back is greatly appreciated by Torino.
