5 AC Milan players leaving the club immediately

Several AC Milan players will leave the club at the end of the season due to their underwhelming performance and high wages.

Another season is drawing to a close but a new revolution is about to start. The failure of the current campaign will lead to considerable change to the AC Milan squad and staff. Coach Sergio Conceicao will leave at the end of the season. A new coach will take over the team while a new sporting director will handle the transfer market business of the club. Regardless of who ends up joining, a couple of Rossoneri players will have to leave the club once the season is over.

1- Emerson Royal

The first on the list is Emerson Royal. The Brazilian right back was supposed to be Davide Calabria’s long-term replacement but resulted a total flop. The €15 million AC Milan spent to acquire his services from Tottenham in the summer were bad business and the club brought a new right back just six months later. AC Milan had reach an agreement to sell Emerson Royal to Galatasaray but the transfer did not materialize due to an injury of the player. Nevertheless, Emerson Royal will have to find a new club this summer with AC Milan ready to cut their loses on the 26-year-old defender.

2- Tammy Abraham

The move of Tammy Abraham to AC Milan was quite eventful. The Rossoneri considered a number of strikers before turning their attention on the English forward. Initially AC Milan and Roma discussed a permanent swap deal between Tammy Abraham and Alexis Saelemaekers only to agree on temporary loan moves for both players. A verbal agreement was on place for Milan to sign Abraham for €10 million plus Saelemaekers at the end of the season. However, the season of Saelemaekers to Roma proved much more successful than that of Abraham with Milan and the Rossoneri have no intention to pay €5 million per season for a player who scored 10 goals with only 3 being in Serie A. Tammy Abraham will return to Roma once the season is over and AC Milan will bring in a new striker.

3- Ruben Loftus-Cheek

Next on the list is Ruben Loftus-Cheek. The English central midfielder had a very positive first season at San Siro scoring some crucial goals despite a couple of fitness issues. However, he has barely feature this season due to a number of muscular injuries. The output of the 29-year-old has been extremely minimal recording just one assist. Still, AC Milan hope to recoup a part of their €20 million investment for Loftus-Cheek as the player has a number of interested clubs from England, Turkey and Saudi Arabia.

4- Joao Felix

It is difficult to decide whether AC Milan’s biggest flop this season was Emerson Royal or Joao Felix. Coach Sergio Conceicao pushed a lot to have the Portuguese forward under his orders and Milan singed him on loan from Chelsea in January. A fantastic debut with a beautiful goal against Roma hinted that Felix and Milan would be a perfect match but what followed was a total disaster. Joao Felix failed to find the back of the net ever since, recording only one assist. AC Milan have no intention to make his transfer permanent and he will be shipped back to Chelsea next month.

5- Kyle Walker

The same fate is reserved for Kyle Walker who is another January arrival from the Premier League. Having understood that Emerson Royal wouldn’t be able to give any contribution to the cause, AC Milan decided to bring in a experienced right back like Kyle Walker. The Manchester City defender rarely committed Emerson’s amateur mistakes but at the same time he proved he is past his prime without offering any contribution in attack like he did in the golden years at City. The Rossoneri have an option to sign him permanently but Walker’s €5 million salary is not justified by his performances.
