AC Milan rejected Chelsea star over the summer

Chelsea offered AC Milan the opportunity to sign young striker Tammy Abraham over the summer but the Rossoneri rejected.

Tammy Abraham is without a doubt the player of the moment in the Premier League. With 7 goals in 6 league games, the Chelsea striker boasts an incredible rate of one goal every 58 minutes. Coach Frank Lampard can be pleased with the performance of the 20-year-old that could have joined AC Milan instead.

During the summer transfer window, the Rossoneri were in search of reinforcements for the attack. AC Milan wanted a young centre-forward that combined technical skills with speed to partner with Krzysztof Piatek.

Tuttomercatoweb.com reports that AC Milan were offered the chance to sign Tammy Abraham this summer. Chelsea wanted to send Abraham again on loan in order for him to gain more experience. Given the good relations with AC Milan, after the Bakayoko operation of last season, the Blues wanted to do business again with the Rossoneri.

AC Milan rejected the offer for two reasons. Maldini and Boban wanted a player who had experience at international level. Unlike Rafel Leao who had played in Portugal with Sporting Lisbon and in France with Lille, Abraham had tested himself only in England mostly in Championship. The second reasons was AC Milan’s policy of signing players only on a permanent deal. Chelsea offered Abraham only on loan without the right to make the move permanent.

With 26 goals in 40 appearances for Aston Villa last summer it was already obvious that the England international was destined for great things. Seeing Chelsea’s reluctance, AC Milan brought Leao at San Siro making him the most expensive signing of the club this year.
