AC Milan considering Juventus duo for January

With Caldara still unfit, AC Milan want to sign a new centre back and are looking at Juventus duo Daniele Rugani and Merih Demiral.

One of the key areas that AC Milan must strengthen in January is the defence. With Mattia Caldara still unfit, and Musacchio not very reliable, Milan need to sign a new centre back. According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, the Rossoneri could shop at Juventus when the winter transfer window opens. Daniele Rugani and Merih Demiral are the two names on AC Milan’s radar.

The duo are not regular starters under Maurizio Sarri and one is expected to leave soon. Much will depend on the recovery of Giorgio Chiellini, currently out due to injury. Juventus will evaluate in the next months if eventually to sell one of their defender and then replace him with another one with Bayern Munich star Jerome Boateng a likely target.

The defender with the most desire to leave looks like Demiral, who has made only one official appearance so far and wants more game time. The Turkey international was close to AC Milan in the summer but in the end Juventus refused to sell or let him leave on loan.

Daniele Rugani too has made just one appearance and Sarri is counting on him less than the other defenders. However, he has more experience than his young teammate and this aspect could weigh on his stay in Torino. Furthermore, he seems to have accepted the idea of not being a first choice.

The arrival of Matthijs de Ligt has eclipsed both Demiral and Rugani who are struggling for minutes. Juventus value their defenders at €25-30 million despite neither of them making an impact so far.
