New names for AC Milan’s defence

With Liverpool’s Lovren no longer a transfer target, AC Milan have shifted their focus on Premier League duo Fabian Schar and Eric Bailly.

MILAN TRANSFER NEWS – With Cristian Zapata and Ignazio Abate leaving the club this summer, and Mattia Caldara unavailable probably until November, AC Milan are in search of a new centre back to fill the void.

Dejan Lovren is the name most linked with AC Milan but the Rossoneri have no intention of meeting Liverpool’s request of over 20 million euros. Now Boban and Maldini are considering Fabian Schar and Eric Bailly reports Tuttosport.

Bailly joined Manchester United in 2016 for 38 million euros from Villarreal. Handpicked by coach Jose Mourinho, the 25-year-old defender made a very good debut in England. However, the following two seasons were not at the same level also due to injuries.

Eric Bailly has a contract with Manchester United until 2020 and so far the parties have failed to agree on the renewal. If United don’t sell the Ivory international this summer they risk losing him for free next year. Until now, Manchester United have not named Bailly’s price tag. Fabian Schar is his alternative.

The Swiss international was signed by Newcastle for 4 million euros last season. The 27-year-old centre back made 24 Premier League appearances in his debut year in England, scoring 4 goals and providing one assists. Schar has been linked with AC Milan even in the past.
