AC Milan have 3-name list to replace Maignan

Mike Maignan may leave AC Milan at the end of the season. The Rossoneri are looking on the market for his successor.

In the last match against Fiorentina, once again, Mike Maignan demonstrated why he is considered one of the best goalkeepers in the world with some spectacular saves. It has been a rather disappointing season on a personal level for the French international who has conceded 47 goals in 38 appearances, keeping a clean sheet only on 14 occasions. Nevertheless, the qualities and talent of the 28-year-old shot-stopper have never been in doubt.

His future instead is. That’s because the contract of Mike Maignan with AC Milan expires in 2026 and no progress has been made on the renewal front. Maignan is a long-term contract at around €8 million per season while Milan are currently not going beyond €5 million plus add-ons. Furlani’s recent words regarding Maignan’s contract extension are less than reassuring and there is a real risk that the Milan and Mike may part ways at the end of the season.

The Rossoneri are already looking on the market for alternatives and according to Tuttosport have a three-name list to replace Mike Maignan. The top target in case Maignan leaves is Michele Di Gregorio. The Monza goalkeeper has excelled in the first two seasons in Serie A with Monza and is posed to join a big club this summer with a host of clubs monitoring his situation.

Monza are reportedly asking a transfer fee of €20 million for Michele Di Gregorio. There have already been contacts with the Italian goalkeeper and AC Milan. Di Gregorio started his career on Inter’s youth ranks but is a big AC Milan fan. Another name on AC Milan’s list is Giorgi Mamardashvili. The Georgia international has a higher market value. Despite another disappointing season from Valencia, the Spanish club are reluctant to let Mamardashvili leave unless an important bid arrives.

The last name on AC Milan’s list to replace Mike Maignan is Bento. The Brazilian goalkeeper of Atletico Paranaense has seen his stock rise a lot recently and just made his debut with the national team in the friendlies against England and Spain. Bento is also followed by Inter, Chelsea, Wolverhampton e Nottingham Forrest. Atletico Paranaense are ready to sell him at a reasonable price because Bento’s contract expires in 18 months.
