Why AC Milan should spend Suso’s 25m for new Xabi Alonso

With 25 million collected from the sale of Suso AC Milan could close the purchase of Szoboszlai but the Rossoneri should sign another player instead.

AC Milan were very happy to learn that Sevilla qualified for Champions League in advance. Sevilla’s Champions League participation automatically triggers the signing of Jesus Suso on a permanent transfer for a total figure of 25 million euros. Fresh money for the Rossoneri that will be reinvested on the market. But for which player?

The obvious choice is Dominik Szoboszlai. The 19-year-old Hungarian midfielder has excelled this season with Red Bull Salzburg. He is young but already experienced, one of the brightest talents in Europe, is already in talks with AC Milan and costs precisely 25 million. Nevertheless, AC Milan should try to sign Marc Roca instead.

The 23-year-old Spanish defensive midfielder is the perfect partner for Ismael Bennacer. The Espanyol midfielder excelled last year with the Spanish Under-21 side winning the European Championship. While Dani Ceballos and Fabian Ruiz claimed headlines with their performances in the final third, it was Roca who orchestrated everything good Spain did.

Roca is seen as a better alternative to Tonali (who costs twice as much) and more ready than the Italian prodigy for the big stage. Marc Roca is more experienced and has nearly 120 official appearances with Espanyol. He is close to full maturity, great at imposing the play and breaking the opponent pressing.

The deep-lying playmaker is often looked like a hybrid between Sergio Busquets and Xabi Alonso. AC Milan are keeping tabs on the Spanish midfielder metronome who is available for exactly 25 million. However, AC Milan must act quickly because Everton and Arsenal are strongly interested in his services. The Rossoneri management is monitoring closely the situation and a bid is expected to follow.
