AC Milan part ways immediately with 10 players

A revolution has started under the guidance of Tare and Allegri and a big number of players will not be part of AC Milan any longer.

The Igli Tare and Massimiliano Allegri reign has started at AC Milan in full force. The duo have a clear plan of what squad they need to build this summer in order to achieve success and bring back trophies after a disastrous last season. While the signing of Samuele Ricci, and very soon of Modric and Jashari, have taken most of the attention, the Rossoneri have been quite busy in selling or parting ways with a big number of players that are not part of Allegri’s plans for the future.

The big name to leave AC Milan this summer was Tijjani Reijnders. The Dutch midfielder was AC Milan’s player of the year last season and his departure was a big hit for the Rossoneri fans. There are a number of different reports of what will be the final fee Manchester City will pay for Reijnders but the initial official figure of €55 million, although hefty, can be considered disappointing taking into account Reijnders’ talent.

Two central defenders followed on Reijnders footsteps. Juventus decided to sign Pierre Kalulu permanently after one season on loan by paying an additional €14 million fee plus potential 3 million in bonuses. Similar fate for his department colleague Marco Pellegrino. Pellegrino arrived as a discovery of head scout Geoffrey Moncada but failed to break into the first team and made only one official appearance before being shipped on loan. He has now joined Boca Juniors for €3.5 million.

At the same time AC Milan decided against signing any of their players that had joined the club on loan either from the summer or in January. Thus names like Joao Felix, Tammy Abraham, Riccardo Sottil and Kyle Walker have returned back to their parent clubs. Neither lived up to expectations with perhaps Tammy Abraham being the only one that left a certain mark considering his 10 goals and 7 assists throughout the season.

Three players instead left as free agents. AC Milan decided to not renew the contracts of Alessandro Florenzi and Davide Calabria. Calabria served for a long time has club captain but his relationship with the Rossoneri soured at the end and he had confrontations with both Paulo Fonseca and Sergio Conceicao. AC Milan decided to also cut ties with Luka Jovic. The Serbian striker had his moments but he was never constant and was unable to break into AC Milan’s first squad.

In total 10 players have left AC Milan so far with Theo Hernandez expected to be next as the French left back will sign a contract with Al Hilal in the coming days. The Rossoni will earn a total fee of €35 million for the services of Theo Hernandez while the flamboyant defender will become of the highest earning players in the world with a salary of 20 million per year. Hernandez leaves as the best goal scoring defender in the history of AC Milan after serving 6 years at the club.
