AC Milan revolutionize goalkeeper coaching

Last season the performance of Gianluigi Donnarumma suffered a slight decline compared to the expectations created in the previous months. Some excessive technical errors by the young 19 year old goalkeeper that proved to be costly for the Rossoneri.

Problems that someone has attributed to the heavy pressure towards the goalkeeper following the last summer events of his contract renewal. The fact remains that AC Milan has revolutionized the goalkeeping training sector: former coach Alfredo Magni has left the role of chief coach, with the club that has recalled Valerio Fiori, historic former third AC Milan goalkeeper, now 49 years old.

Coach Gennaro Gattuso had a great influence on his arrival because the two have played together for a long time. Tuttosport also reports that Fiori has recalled in the first team one of best goalkeeper coaches of the youth sector: Gigi Ragno.

Ragno has followed Gigio Donnarumma from the very beginning of his career and perhaps his return can restore tranquility to the young Milan goalkeeper and, above all, increase his already notable qualities. Let’s not forget that Donnarumma is still 19 years old, and has an enormous, still unexpressed, potential.

This year the goalkeeper hierarchies at Casa Milan are less certain than last year: the arrival of Pepe Reina has brought more competition to Gigio, but at the same time also the opportunity to grow and learn from a great keeper like the almost 36-year-old Spanish international.
