Botman opens up about AC Milan transfer

Lille star Sven Botman confirms the interest of AC Milan in his services hinting at a potential summer transfer.

In January there was a lot of talk about the future of Sven Botman. The Dutch defender who has been shining with the Lille in recent seasons has attracted the attention of many clubs. His name was linked with a move to AC Milan but Lille did not want to sell their star defender in January.

Paolo Maldini and Frederic Massara made a concrete attempt, but ultimately unsuccessful. Despite all, AC Milan have not given up on Botman. The 22-year-old centre back has already agreed personal terms with the Rossoneri and the management is in continuous contacts with the French club to agree a transfer fee for the summer.

The Dutch international was recently interviewed by Ziggo Sport commenting on his potential transfer to AC Milan. “I’m fine at Lille, we’re in the Champions League and I have a good role in the team. Sometimes opportunities come that you need to seize, I feel ready for the next step and I think I will do it in the summer. The interest of Milan and Newcastle United was very concrete. My preference? Both clubs have positive points“.

Everyone is talking about Newcastle because of the money, but the project is very good. Look at where PSG and Manchester City started. I think it would be nice to be a part of it. However, Milan is a wonderful club“, said Botman.

Earlier it was Botman’s agent, Nikkie Bruinenberg, to confirm AC Milan’s interest in his client. Many clubs interested and many requests received, but none have fully satisfied Lille. Right now the French don’t want to sell Sven. He is happy here, because he plays in Champions League. What happened is not a disaster, he is still happy to be in a beautiful club like Lille. Milan really like the player. The negotiation could proceed in the summer, I’m not ruling out anything“.

Journalist Antonio Vitiello reports that Botman has already said yes to a transfer to AC Milan. Maldini is a big admirer of the Dutch colossus and is confident that Botman and Tomori can form a partnership in defence that would last for a decade. The Rossoneri are negotiating with Lille over a €33 million transfer.
