Gattuso comments on Bakayoko permanent signing

The disappointing start of the season seems like distant memory for Tiemoue Bakayoko. Now AC Milan are considering making his signing permanent.

During the summer AC Milan needed to sign a new central midfielder. At the time the situation was very chaotic at the club and the new American management had only 20 days to move on the transfer market. New sporting director Leonardo decided to sign Tiemoue Bakayoko from Chelsea with the right to buy.

The Rossoneri paid an initial fee of 5 million euros but the early performances of the former Monaco star were so disappointing that many questioned the wisdom of this transfer. Italian media even claimed that Milan would ship Bakayoko back to Chelsea in January. But in recent weeks things have changed dramatically for good.

The 24 year old French has became a reference point for the squad and a dominating force in midfield. The Rossoneri management is considering making Bakayoko’s stay at San Siro permanent and according to their agreement with Chelsea Milan must pay an additional 35 million euros.

His biggest critic at the beginning of the season coach Gennaro Gattuso has spared no praise for Bakayoko’s recent displays. In yesterday’s pre-match press conference, Rino commented on the permanent signing of Bakayoko. A topic that is being discussed in the press these weeks.

I am pleased with Tiemoue Bakayoko, he’s physical and moving well on the pitch. He’s playing well now but must continue improving. I am not an accountant. The club management knows the players I like. They have to be functional to what we do on the pitch. It takes important money [to buy Bakayoko], but I do not think about it. I have my head on how to put the player on the pitch and make him do better. Then we will sit down with the management to figure out what’s best” said Gattuso.
