Gattuso disappointed with midfielder, January exit planned

Alen Halilovic arrived at AC Milan with the clear objective of reviving his career but he is about to look for a new team already.

He was the last purchase of the Fassone-Mirabelli couple who signed him on a free transfer from Hamburg. The 22 year old Alen Halilovic, who is the youngest debutante in the history of the Croatia national team (at 16 years and 357 days), has yet to play a single minute with AC Milan in official games and the road is becoming increasingly steep.

Against Roma the name of Halilovic was included among the 24 players called up by Gattuso but then he was sent to the stands. The attacking midfielder remained in Milano yesterday as well, he did not follow the rest of the team in Sardinia for the Cagliari match. The feeling is that the former Barcelona has yet to overcome the difficulties of integration in Gattuso’s schemes and with the new Italian reality.

His excellent performance, with a lot of goals, in the 4-0 victory of Croatia Under 21 against Belarus has served for nothing. In the next few days a meeting has been scheduled between Leonardo and Halilovic’s agents to study a plan in view of the January transfer window.

The most feasible route is a six-month loan move. Alen Halilovic is in Espanyol’s plans and there have already been contacts between the two clubs. A decisive encounter could take place in the following months. One thing is sure, at AC Milan there’s no place for the Croatian.
