Gattuso: “We are on the right track”
AC Milan close the year with a 1-1 draw against Fiorentina. The Rossoneri suffered the fatigue of the derby but equalized with a goal from Hakan Calhangolu.
Rino’s words to Milan TV: “It’s all about the hard work, it’s the team that makes the difference”
Fiorentina v AC Milan was the last game of the year and the Rossoneri took home a precious point from a trailing situation (1-1) thanks to Calhangolu’s goal. After the final whistle, Rino Gattuso had his say to Milan TV:
THE PERFORMANCE – “Probably it looked like we thought too much of our opponents, but we had to do so since we were really fatigued. It’s the first time we manage to bounce back from a trailing situation, we also had the feeling we could win it in the end. We have to continue on this path.
THE TEAM – “It’s all about the work done, the time spent together during the week, the desire to help each other. It’s the attitude that matters: the team made the difference today, we need to put onto the pitch everything we try (in training) and all we have.
NEW YEAR – “I want to wish a happy new year to everyone. Forza Milan, always!”
30th December marked a special day for Gigio Donnarumma, who reached his first 100 appearances with AC Milan. After the match, the goalkeeper was interviewed by Milan TV: “I m proud to have reached the 100 appearances in the Red and Black. I want to thank everyone: the people at Milanello, the staff and my team-mates”. On the match: “In these three days we told each other we could not fail in Florence because we needed consistency and we didn’t want to give up. We did well to bounce back, it wasn’t easy because they wanted to win and were ready for it. It’s thanks to the boss if we have this mentality”. On his brother Antonio: “I am proud of my brother, we always work hard with goalkeeping coach Magni. He did really well to be ready when he was called on to play in the derby and his performance was brilliant”.
Ricardo Rodriguez commented on the draw against Fiorentina:
On the match: “It was a difficult game, especially after the 120 minutes played on Wednesday. It was tough, but we gave our best and even if we went under, we were able at getting back”.
On AC Milan’s moment: “I think the turning point has happened. After the Italian Cup it was important to give a signal also in the championship. Inter and Fiorentina were two difficult games in which we did well. We are fighting till the end and we must certainly improve, but we will grow in the coming months”.
Calhanoglu’s goal? “He is such a strong player, with huge quality and this goal will give him strength to help us further in attack”.
At the end of the match against Fiorentina, Gigio Donnarumma was interviewed by Sky Sport
On the match: “It was important to find continuity, after the derby a positive result was needed here in Firenze, we were good to equalize immediately after the initial disadvantage”.
On Antonio Donnarumma: “I’m proud of him, he was always quiet and he went on working, I’m really proud of him. I’m sorry for the banner of the fans against me and him, but he knew how to bounce back. I’m happy for him”.
On his 100 appearances with Milan: “I am proud to have made 100 appearances, and I thank all those who allowed me to reach this goal.
On the mercato voices: “How do I reply? That I have four years of contract with Milan”.
