Journalist reveals direct conversations between Ibra and Conte on AC Milan job

Zlatan Ibrahimovic has chosen Antonio Conte as AC Milan coach for next season. Contacts ongoing between the two.

Stefano Pioli has had a season full of ups and downs this season but despite everything the ownership has backed him and the Italian coach has kept his job. Nevertheless, this will be the last season of Stefano Pioli as AC Milan coach. Even if the ownership change does not happen and Cardinale remains in change of the Rossoneri, Pioli will leave at the end of the season.

Raffaele Palladino and Thiago Motta have been named as his possible successors but the real dream is Antonio Conte. The successful Italian coach has taken a sabbatical, however, he will return to coaching next season. Antonio Conte would prefer to stay in Italy and AC Milan are a real possibility.

Antonio Conte was  hoping to return to Juventus but the Torino-based club will confirm Massimiliano Allegri for next season as well thus facilitating AC Milan’s pursuit of Conte. Journalist Luca Momblano reports that Conte has received a phone call from Zlatan Ibrahimovic. The Italian coach appreciated Ibra’s direct conversation and give his availability to understand the project.

Momblano also adds that Antonio Conte will surely not go to Napoli next season thus increasing AC Milan chances of securing his signature. Antonio Conte asked important questions to Ibrahimovic regarding AC Milan’s ownership according to the Italian journalist. Conte appreciates AC Milan’s squad but he wants clarity on what will be the future of the club and if the current ownership lead by Cardinale will stay.

The good news is that Conte’s doubts are not technical but structural. The Italian coach believes that the squad does not need an overhaul but just a few tweaks. He understands that Italian clubs are currently not able to compete on the transfer market against European heavyweights like Real Madrid, PSG and Man City. However, that will not be necessary as Milan need only a few specific additions according to Conte.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Antonio Conte remain in contact reports Momblano. Zlatan, who is a direct advisor to Gerry Cardinale, has told Conte that he is his pick for AC Milan coach. Moncada and Furlani seem oriented mostly for Thiago Motta but the ultimate choice on the coach appointment belongs to Cardinale and Ibrahimovic’s thoughts count more than Furlani and Moncada.
