Man City accelerate talks for Tijjani Reijnders: the details

Tijjani Reijnders man city

Manchester City are speeding up talks with AC Milan to try to find an agreement for the transfer of Tijjani Reijnders to England.

As already reported by acmilaninfo.com, Premier League giants Manchester City have a serious interest in AC Milan gem Tijjani Reijnders. Coach Pep Guardiola considers the 26-year-old star as the perfect player for his midfield and has made Reijnders one of the main transfer priorities for Manchester City this summer. There is a real risk that the Dutch international changes club at the end of the season.

According to the Dutch newspaper De Telegraaf, the English club are already in contacts with both AC Milan and the player and will accelerate talks in the coming weeks. The Citizens wanted to respect Milan and did not made official contacts until the Coppa Italia was played. Now that the final is over, Man City will soon present an official opening offer for Reijnders.

The Dutch midfielder recently extended his contract with the Rossoneri until 2030. However, AC Milan are open to let Tijjani Reijnders join Manchester City if an offer of over 70 million euros arrives on their table according to De Telegraaf. The 26-year-old central midfielder has been a key player for the Red and Blacks since his arrival from AZ Alkmaar two years ago but under the American ownership of RedBird every player is on the market for the right price and the transfer of Sandro Tonali to Newcastle is a clear demonstration.

The price tag of €70 million would make Reijders the most expensive player departure in AC Milan history eclipsing that of Kaka who joined Real Madrid in 2009. A high evaluation that is justified by the extraordinary season that Tijjani Reijnders has had. The elegant midfielder has scored 15 goals and provided 6 assists. Reijnders has established himself as one of the most decisive players in the Rossoneri squad and at the same time has become a key figure for the Netherlands national team.

His consistency, quality and penchant for going forward has attracted the interest of several clubs including that of Manchester City. Coach Pepe Guardional is reportedly a big sponsor of this move and wants to have Tijjani under his orders as soon as possible. The coming days will be crucial to understand the feasibility of the transfer. If Reijnders leaves, AC Milan have identified Torino’s Samuele Ricci as the prefect replacement. The Italian midfielder has a price tag of around €30 million.
