If Gianluigi Donnarumma leaves AC Milan at the end of the season, the Rossoneri will likely replace him with Mike Maignan.
La Gazzetta dello Sport reports that between AC Milan and Donnarumma there is an unwritten agreement not to talks with other parties before having clarified the renewal question. Hence, Gigio does not sign with any other team and the Rossoneri do not buy a new goalkeeper.
However, AC Milan must be ready for the likely departure of Donnarumma and the Rossoneri are considering some goalkeepers who could eventually replace Donnarumma. In recent days, rumors have emerged about AC Milan’s interested in Juan Musso, Pierluigi Gollini and Mike Maignan.
At the moment the favorite for a possible post-Donnarumma is Maignan reports La Gazzetta dello Sport. The 25-year-old French goalkeeper is having a great season with Lille this year recording 18 clean sheets in 40 appearances so far.
Maignan has a contract with the French club until 2022 and Lille are asking 20 million euros for his services. Besides AC Milan, Tottenham are very interested in Mike Maignan with coach Jose Mourinho having identified him as the ideal replacement of Hugo Lloris.
Maignan has joined the France national team and looks ready for an important step forward in his career. The talented goalkeeper started with Paris-Saint Germain but he didn’t found space there. The French shot-stopper had to move to Lille to play continuously and emerge as one of the best players in Ligue 1. At PSG that he used to train alongside Milan striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic.
