Atletico Madrid make offer for AC Milan midfielder

Spanish champions Atletico Madrid are interested in AC Milan’s midfielder Hakan Calhanoglu. The Turkish becomes a free agent.

The situation of Hakan Calhanoglu is pretty similar to that of Gianluigi Donnarumma. AC Milan have offered the Turkey international a new contract of 4 million per season while the player is asking for one million more.

Just like for Donnarumma, this is the Rossoneri’s final offer but, unlike Donnarumma, AC Milan are not showing him the door. The reason behind this decision is very simple. The management would like to avoid signing a new attacking midfielder and rather invest a lot to bring in a top right winger.

Nevertheless, there is no guarantee that at the end Hakan will stay. In addition to the rich offer he has received from Qatar, Hakan Calhanoglu has attracted the attention of fresh La Liga champions Atletico Madrid.

Sky Sport reports that the Spanish giants have contacted his agent. Atletico Madrid have offered Calhanoglu a long-term contract of €3 million per season. That’s less than what AC Milan are willing to spend for the 27-year-old attacking midfielder.

Hakan Calhanoglu is not the only player Atletico Madrid and AC Milan ae fighting for. The two clubs are interested in Udinese’s De Paul but are unwilling to match the €40 million asking price of the Friuli club. Both players are currently busy in international duty with their respective national teams.
