Gattuso’s next two challenges

Now with the return of Lucas Biglia two great challenges lie ahead for AC Milan coach Gennaro Gattuso. Revive Calhanoglu and use Biglia together with Bakayoko.

Thanks to goals from Lucas Paqueta and Kris Piatek and an initial own goal, AC Milan dominated Cagliari and secured three precious points in the Champions League. The Rossoneri remain in fourth spot just one point ahead of Roma, Lazio and Atalanta.

The other good news is the return of Lucas Biglia. After more than four months out the Argentine midfielder is back under Gattuso’s orders. Though Rino didn’t use him in yesterday’s match with Cagliari it’s very likely we will see Biglia make his 2019 debut against Atalanta.

According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, the next goals of Rino Gattuso are to help Hakan Calhanoglu find the back of the net and make Biglia and Bakayoko successfully coexist together in AC Milan’s midfield.

A great debate has plagued the Rossoneri recently. The Turkish 24 year old hasn’t scored a single goal this season in Serie A despite making 21 appearances. However, the coach blindly trusts him and Hakan remains an undisputed starter in every match.

The second challenge regards using Bakayoko and Biglia from the start. It’s hard to imagine Milan without the presence of the French midfielder these days but at the same time the team needs Biglia’s creativity. In this case it should be Kessie to pay the bill and sit on the bench. Perhaps some time off could be good for the ever-present Ivorian
