New right winger: AC Milan plan A & B

AC Milan are looking on the market for a new right winger. With Berardi out of reach, Milan are considering two alternatives.

One of the most important summer signings of AC Milan will be that of the new right winger. Samuel Castillejo is destined to leave while Alexis Saelemaekers is projected to be the second choice due to his low goal scoring rate. Stefano Pioli’s top pick is Domenico Berardi but, after the European, Sassuolo have increased their asking price to 50 million euros which is out of budget for the Rossoneri.

Under these conditions, the realistic top option for AC Milan is Hakim Ziyech. The Morocco international was not a regular starter for Chelsea last season and he could leave the Blues to play more elsewhere. Ziyech has often played as an attacking midfielder but the Rossoneri consider him a better fitted player for the wing.

Ziyech was very prolific on the right wing playing for Ajax. In his four years at the Amsterdam club the 28-year-old scored 49 goals and assisted 81 in 165 appearances. Chelsea’s €40 million price tag is prohibitive for AC Milan but the Rossoneri would prefer to sign Ziyech on loan with buy option.

The plan B is Josip Ilicic reports journalist Andrea Longoni. The Atalanta star has had a fallout with coach Gian Piero Gasperini and will surely leave the Bergamo club this summer. He is available for a fee close to 5 million and currently earns 1.5 million per season.

Ilicic is a low cost option. Since joining Atalanta he has been one of the best performers in Serie A with 7 goals and 11 assists last season. However, age is a problem with Ilicic turning 34 next January. On the other hand, he is already familiar with Serie A and would allow Saelemaekers to play more.
