Gazidis wants Gasperini to replace Gattuso

With Gennaro Gattuso set to leave AC Milan at the end of the season CEO Ivan Gazidis wants Gian Piero Gasperini to succeed him at San Siro.

Reaching the final of the Italian Cup was one of AC Milan’s goals this season. After a positive 0-0 draw away from home the Rossoneri had every chance to overcome Lazio at San Siro. However, a very disappointing performance by Milan allowed Lazio to play the Coppa Italia final against Atalanta.

A place in the top four is AC Milan’s only option to save the season. The future of coach Gennaro Gattuso is again in great doubt and very likely Rino will not be confirmed for next season. The management is already on the search for a new coach.

According to Il Messaggero, CEO Ivan Gazidis wants Gian Piero Gasperini to succeed Gattuso. The Italian newspaper reports that even if AC Milan qualify for Champions this year Gattuso will be sacked at the end of the season.

Gasperini has done miracles with Atalanta since joining them in 2016. He has guided the Bergamo club to a fourth place and Europa League qualification before while this season Atalanta have reached the Coppa Italia final and are battling for a place in Champions.
