Pioli asks for new midfielder, AC Milan have 3 targets in mind

Rossoneri coach Stefano Pioli has asked for a new central midfielder and AC Milan are following three targets.

AC Milan’s plans during the last summer transfer window initially included the purchase of another midfielder, even after the arrival of Sandro Tonali from Brescia. The Rossoneri wanted to bring in a robust and dynamic player. Paolo Maldini tried to bring Tiemoue Bakayoko back to Milanello but without success.

In January it is very likely that Milan will search again for a new addition in midfield. The request comes explicitly from coach Stefano Pioli, who has made it clear to the management that he needs another player in that area of the pitch.

According to Calciomercato, Pioli considers Rade Krunic an attacking midfielder, having deployed him very often on the advanced line behind Ibrahimovic. A clear signal for the club, although initially the Bosnian was considered useful in the rotations as a back-up to Kessie. Milan will try to please him, even if it will not be easy considering that in January clubs tend to avoid spending a lot.

In the meantime, three names have emerged that could be ideal to strengthen AC Milan’s midfield. The first name is that of Dominik Szoboszlai. The Red Bull Salzburg prodigy was linked with a move to the Rossoneri months ago and it was believed he was Ralf Rangnick’s top name on the list. While the German coach did not arrive, there is still a good chance that Szoboszlai joins the Rossoneri.

The race for the services of the Hungarian talent is fierce with Arsenal also very interested. Any club that wants to sign Szoboszlai must pay his release clause of 25 million euro.

The first alternative is also another old transfer target. Lille midfielder Boubakary Soumare who unfortunately has a higher price tag. The French club do not intend to sell the 21-year-old defensive midfielder for less than 35 million euros.

Perhaps the most easy option is another player of Red Bull Salzburg. Rossoneri scouts have been following Luka Sucic for quite a while and they have been impressed with what the youngster has done. The 18-year-old central midfielder has joined Salzburg’s first team this season. He has scored once and provided one assist in 3 appearances so far.
