Romagnoli’s new partner could cost AC Milan €22m

Signing a new central defender is a priority for AC Milan and the name of Kristoffer Ajer is one the most appealing for the Rossoneri.

Kristoffer Ajer is certainly not a new name for the defense of AC Milan. The Norwegian centre back of Celtic has long been on the radar of AC Milan club and the Rossoneri unsuccessfully tried to purchase him in January. The 22-year-old defender has decided to leave Scotland and landing in Italy is one of the most likely options.

AC Milan are looking for a top centre back to partner with Alessio Romagnoli. And in fact, apart from the captain, the future of all current Rossoneri defenders is at risk.

In the last games, Matteo Gabbia has not convinced and the loan idea is becoming increasingly popular. On Simon Kjaer, the best at this stage, Milan has not yet decided whether to sign him on a permanent transfer or not. Mateo Musacchio and Leao Duarte on the other hand are practically sure to leave.

The Scottish Sun confirms that AC Milan are very interested in Kristoffer Ajer and seem willing to invest a significant figure for his services. With only two years remaining on his current deal, and no renewal being considered, Celtic could settle for around €22 million to sell their brightest player.

Despite his young age Ajer has more than 200 appearances with Celtic. The Norwegian defender also has 14 caps to his name. After three seasons in Scotland the 22-year-old is ready for a bigger challenge.
