Simone Verdi rejects Napoli and Milan lose millions

Simone Verdi was subject of a bid from Napoli but the former AC Milan winger has rejected their offer and has decided to stay at Bologna.

Now it’s official, Simone Verdi will stay at Bologna and has rejected a move to Napoli. It was the CEO of Bologna Claudio Fenucci to announce that the 25 year old Italian right winger will not change team in this January transfer window. While both clubs had reached an economic agreement it was the player himself to say the final word and refuse the Napoli destination.

According to the latest rumors, Napoli’s offer was quite high: 25 million euros plus three in bonuses. From this figure the Rossoneri would have earned 20% (about 5,5 millions) of the total as part of the deal that saw Verdi move to Bologna. Simone failed to make a single appearance with AC Milan at the time and was sold in 2016 for a very low figure of 1,5 million euros.
