AC Milan player completes Turkey transfer

AC Milan have complete the transfer of Brazilian defender Leo Duarte to Turkey. The player was not part of Pioli’s plans.

Few could have predicted at the beginning of the season but AC Milan are leading Serie A after 17 rounds with 3 points of difference over second-placed Inter. However, the Rossoneri need to make some new signings to seriously aim for the Scudetto.

For Paolo Maldini there is also a lot of work ahead not only for signings but also for sales. AC Milan are about to complete the first January departure with Leo Duarte set to join Istanbul Basaksehir in the next hours.

Journalist Nicolo Schira reveals that AC Milan and the Turkish club have reached an agreement. Leo Duarte will move to Istanbul Basaksehir on loan for the remaining of the season with an option to make the transfer permanent after six months.

The Brazilian centre back could land in Turkey tomorrow to undergo medical exams. This is a move that suits all parties. Milan offload a player that is not part of Stefano Pioli’s plan (he has preferred youngster Kalulu on many occasions) and Duarte will have a chance to play continuously.

AC Milan signed Leo Duarte from Flamengo in the summer of 2019 for a figure of 10 million euros plus one in add-ons. The 24-year-old defender has made just 3 appearances this season and has battled with injuries for a long time.
