Leonardo remains in Italy to complete first January signing

AC Milan will play the Super Cup final against Juventus tomorrow but sporting director Leonardo has remained in Italy to close a deal for Krzysztof Piatek.

AC Milan have arrived in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, and tomorrow face Juventus in the Super Cup final. Everybody is there with the Rossoneri except… Leonardo. The Brazilian sporting director has remained in Italy engaged in transfer business. The priority is to solve the Gonzalo Higuain problem, set to depart for Chelsea, and immediately buy a substitute.

Tonight in Jeddah, on the eve of the Italian Super Cup, there will also be an institutional dinner with all the top executives of Juventus and Milan present, as well as Saudi princes and ministers. Representing the Bianconeri will be Pavel Nedved and Fabio Paratici, while for the Rossoneri there will be the president Paolo Scaroni, CEO Ivan Gazidis and the sporting strategy & development director Paolo Maldini.

Leonardo is working tirelessly on the transfer market. The farewell of Gonzalo Higuain, ready to embrace Maurizio Sarri at Chelsea, now seems only a matter of time. The good news is that AC Milan have made considerable progress in negotiations with Genoa star Krzysztof Piatek. The 23 year old Polish striker will inherit Higuain’s role at San Siro.

Genoa sporting director Perinetti has opened to the sale of Piatek, negotiations wit the Rossoneri. “AC Milan know we’d like to keep the player until June but we’ll evaluate all the offers. We don’t want to sell him but we could be uncertain if AC Milan make a big offer. The formula of the operation is not a problem between friendly clubs“.
