Giroud receives shocking deadline day Premier League offer

AC Milan centre forward Olivier Giroud was offered the chance to return to the Premier League by Everton.

The last day of the January transfer window did not offer any news regarding AC Milan. In a more than disappointing mercato session, the Rossoneri concentrated their transfer business only on the signing of Colombian goalkeeper Devis Vasquez. However, an unexpected situation emerged regarding Olivier Giroud.

Italian journalist Gianluca Di Marzio reports that Everton made a bid to sign Olivier Giroud. The Premier League clubs offered the 36-year-old French striker a very lucrative contract of 8.4 million euros per season. The contract would be automatically renewed if Everton managed to remain in the Premier League.

That contract would have made Olivier Giroud one of the highest players in the Premier League. Nevertheless, the AC Milan refused the chance to return to England. Despite the tempting proposal, the former Arsenal and Chelsea striker has decided to continue his career at the Rossoneri.

Giroud is currently in advanced negotiations to extend his contract with AC Milan. He is expected to sign a two-year agreement at €4 million per season. That is even less than what Everton was offering him. However, the French striker has repeatedly expressed how good he feels at the Red and Blacks and he’s not considering other options.

Despite the late drop in form, Giroud has been one of the best players of AC Milan for the current season. The 36-year-old has scored 10 goals and provided 6 assists in 26 appearances with the Italian champions.
