Pioli chooses starting XI for Lecce vs AC Milan

AC Milan play Lecce away from San Siro at 18:00 CET. Pioli needs points after two consecutive disappointing results.

AC Milan travel to Lecce today for their last Serie A match before the Super Cup final against Inter. The Rossoneri desperately need to bunce back after the disappointing draw against Roma and the shocking Cup defeat against Torino. A win in Lecce vs Milan is a must for Pioli’s side considering Napoli’s convincing victory over Juventus.

The Italian coach will trust his usual starting eleven with some small changes. Kalulu and Tomori will form the central duo with Theo Hernandez and captain Calabria completing the back four. New AC Milan signing, Colombian goalkeeper Devis Vasquez, has been called up for this match but it will be Tatarusanu again between the posts.

An important change will take place in midfield. Pioli has decided to rest Sandro Tonali for Lecce vs Milan. It will likely be Aster Vrankcx to take Tonali’s spot alongside Ismael Bennacer, although Pobega’s start can’t be ruled out. Pioli is pleased with Vrankcx’s progress and is slowly giving him more minutes.

Charles De Ketelaere will return to the bench after failing to find the back of the net even against Torino. Brahim Diaz will be confirmed in the attacking midfielder role with Rafael Leao on the left wing and Alexis Saelemaekers on the opposite flank. Olivier Giroud will lead the attack in Lecce vs Milan after being rested against Torino.

LECCE Probable XI (4-3-3): Falcone; Gendrey, Baschirotto, Umtiti, Gallo; Blin, Hjulmand, Gonzalez (Maleh); Strefezza, Colombo, Di Francesco.

AC MILAN Probable XI (4-2-3-1): Tatarusanu; Calabria, Kalulu, Tomori, Theo Hernandez; Bennacer, Vranckx (Pobega); Saelemaekers, Brahim Diaz, Leao; Giroud.
