3 Key AC Milan players recover for Empoli match

The latest on the injuries situation at AC Milan. Three important players recover in time for the Empoli match.

AC Milan will be back on the pitch on Saturday 1 October. Coach Stefano Pioli has a whole week to prepare for the upcoming match against Empoli, away from San Siro. A delicate match that is only the start of a long tour de force between the Champions League and Serie A.

The Rossoneri will resume training on Tuesday, hoping to find a good number of players available. There are currently nine Milan players struggling with physical problems of various kinds, between those who are long-term patients and therefore far from returning and those who are trying to come back to their best after the international break.

Six days before the match between Empoli and AC Milan, Pioli will have to count the injuries and recoveries. Most likely, as reported by La Gazzetta dello Sport, the Italian coach should have three key players recovered in time for the Empoli match.

We are talking about Davide Calabria, Sandro Tonali and Ante Rebic. Their condition has improved a lot in recent days and yesterday they trained individually at Milanello. On Tuesday they will join the rest of the group. The Croatian has recovered from a recurring back problem. The two Italians were injured during AC Milan vs Napoli but their respective muscle strains were less severe than expected.

The recovery of Tonali, Calabria and Rebic is a great news for Pioli who has seen numerous players head to the emergency room. The recovery of other players is expected to take a longer time.

Divock Origi should be next to rejoin the group. The striker is in Belgium to resolve tendon discomfort, an inflammation that did not allow him to train peacefully. The forecasts are those of a return to Milanello this week and a potential availability for the first Champions League match against Chelsea.

The situation is much more complicated for Theo Hernandez. The French full-back, who has renounced the call-up of his national team due to an adductor injury, hopes to recover in time for the match against Juventus on Saturday 8 October. Pioli does not want to hasten Theo’s return but hopes to have him under his orders for the big match at San Siro.
