AC Milan 2-2 Lecce, player ratings

AC Milan fall short at San Siro. The Rossoneri offered a good performance in Pioli’s debut but Lecce equalize in the end.

A bittersweet debut for Sefano Pioli at San Siro. A near perfect first-half from the Rossoneri that attack like never before with Rafael Leao aiming twice for the goal in the first two minutes. Hakan Calhanoglu scores a fantastic goal in the 2o-th minute thanks to a great assist from Lucas Biglia.

However, the team loses a lot of energy and Lecce manage to recover in the second half. Lecce are awarded a penalty in 62-nd minute. Gigio Donnarumma saves Babacar’s shot but the ball bounces back and he finds the back of the net.

Coach Pioli substitutes Leao with Piatek and the Polish striker scores after an assist from Hakan Calhanoglu. Unfortunately Lecce equalize with a long-rage effort from Calderoni in injury time. Another disappointing result for the Rossoneri. After 19 years, Lecce earn points at San Siro.

The good news is that Pioli has already injected his ideas into the players. AC Milan are attacking and pressing more and the midfielders are much more decisive in the play. Hopefully progress will continue.
