AC Milan consider new striker signing in January

Ibrahimovic, Giroud and Pellegri have suffered many injuries pushing AC Milan to consider the signing of a new striker.

The start to the season has been fantastic for AC Milan. The Rossoneri are currently in second place in Serie A with 6 victories and one draw after 7 rounds. Stefano Pioli’s side has gather a record 19 points and has already faced important rivals like Juventus, Lazio and Atalanta.

However, there is an aspect that is causing trouble for the Rossoneri, In fact, all three AC Milan striker have been mostly absent so far giving very little contribution in helping the squad either in Serie A or the Champions League.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic made a cameo against Lazio. He played for just 30 minutes and scored an important goal but has never seen the pitch since. To date that remains the only appearance of the 40-year-old striker who is struggling with a knee injury and an achilles tendon irritation.

The first two Serie A matches are the only that Olivier Giroud has played for the entire 90 minutes. A low back pain has prevented the French striker for contributing more so far. Pietro Pellegri on the other hand has played a total of 60 minutes. The Italian youngster has a long history of injury problems and needed time to regain his full fitness. Thus Ante Rebic was forced to play in the centre forward role for many games.

A difficult situation that is pushing the Rossoneri to consider the signing of a new striker in January. Calciomercato.com reports that sporting director Frederic Massara is watching a number of players that can join AC Milan during the winter mercato if the injury situation does not improve.
