AC Milan had agreed top signing in January

AC Milan had agreed a deal to sign left midfielder Dominik Szoboszlai from Red Bull Salzburg in January.

Dominik Szoboszlai is one of the talents most linked with a potential move to AC Milan in the summer transfer window. The Red Bull Salzburg talent, however, has already been one step away from joining the Rossoneri reports Tuttomercatoweb.com.

It seems that last January AC Milan had agreed terms with Szoboszlai’s agents and also with Red Bull Salzburg. The 19-year-old midfielder would have cost AC Milan around 22 million euros.

Negotiations were led by Zvonimir Boban. The former Milan director, after losing Dani Olmo (who transferred to Red Bull Leipzig), accelerated talks to immediately bring Szoboszlai at San Siro in mid-season.

The transfer of Dominik Szoboszlai to Milan apparently skipped due to the limited time. Talks were held in the last days of the Janaury transfer window and Salzburg failed to land a replacement. At the same time the Austrians had lost their other gem, Erling Haland, who moved to Dortmund, and were happy to avoid another important departure.

But it certainly did not end there. Even with the change in management and the probable arrival of Ralf Rangnick, Milan remain very interested in Szoboszlai and are ready to sign the Hungarian left midfielder in the summer.

The problem is that this time the competition will be higher. The Rossoneri will have to deal with Lazio, Napoli and other European clubs in the race for one of the best ‘millennials’ in circulation.
