With Correa set to stay in Spain, AC Milan look for new alternative

With Correa set to stay at Atletico Madrid, and Everton impossible for bureaucratic reasons, AC Milan have reignited their interest in Memphis Depay.

MILAN TRANSFER NEWS – With five days remaining until the end of the summer transfer window, AC Milan must absolutely accelerate negotiations to bring a new forward at San Siro. Also to sell several unwanted players that are not part of Giampaolo’s project.

However, a radical change of plans could happen as negotiations for Angel Correa seem destined to fail. Atletico Madrid have rejected Milan’s latest offer and continue to insist that Correa will not leave Spain unless AC Milan match their €50 million asking price. That’s why the Rossoneri have started to look around for alternatives.

AC Milan have contacted Gremio for Everton Soares. The Brazilian star winger is free to leave for 40 million but the timing is not perfect. At least four subjects own a part of the player’s rights so closing all bureaucratic procedures within five days looks impossible for the Rossoneri. Considering the difficult situation, AC Milan have turned their attention to an old target: Memphis Depay.

Lyon has set Depay’s price tag at 40 million, not negotiable. However, the French club is willing to accept a part of the transfer fee in bonuses. A very convenient option for the Rossoneri who still haven’t made enough sales to invest that much money on a single player.

The other good news is that Lyon are open to sell. The contract of Depay with the Ligue 1 club expires in two years and they want to avoid another Fekir-like situation. In the first three Ligue 1 matches so far, Memphis Depay has found the back of the net on three occasions while last season he scored 12 goals and assisted 16 in 47 appearances.
