AC Milan offered €25m-rated striker for free

AC Milan have been given the chance to sign highly rated Iranian striker Sardar Azmoun on a free transfer from Zenit Saint Petersburg.

Despite having closed its doors more than a week ago, the mercato does not stop for a moment. AC Milan were the most active Italian club in the summer transfer window and the Rossoneri are already planning their next steps for January and beyond.

Maldini and Massara will be keeping a close eye on several important players that become free agents at the end of the season. Such a player is Zenit Saint Petersburg striker Sardar Azmoun whose contract with the Russian club expires in 2022 and it will not be renewed.

According to reports from Calciomercato.com, the Iranian center forward has decided to leave the Russian club at the end of the season also because Zenit did not want to take into consideration the offers arrived for him this summer from Roma and Bayer Leverkusen. Leaving as a free agent will definitely increase the number of suitors for the 26-year-old who has been linked with AC Milan for a long time.

Jose Mourinho and Gallorossi sporting director Tiago Pinto are very fond of Azmoun. Roma will be saying goodbye to Borja Mayoral and want Azmoun to partner with Tammy Abraham. However, agent his Fali Ramadani has offered AC Milan the chance to sign Sardar Azmoun on a free transfer at the end of the season or either in January.

The Rossoneri could change something in attack next year, especially considering that Zlatan Ibrahimovic will turn 40. Azmoun is often compared to the Swedish striker for his areal ability, creativity, and bursts of acceleration while the British media often calls him the Iranian Messi. After losing key players on a free it’s time for the Rossoneri to reverse the trend and sign important players without paying a transfer fee. In 90 appearances with Zenit, Azmoun has scored 58 goals and assisted 20.
