AC Milan plan five more signings

The Rossoneri squad is not yet complete. AC Milan are planning for five more signings in order to give Pioli a competitive team.

AC Milan are the most active Italian club on the transfer market and just in the last days have secured three signings. Olivier Giroud, Fode Ballo-Toure and Brahim Diaz are the latest names to join the Rossoneri.

The French striker has arrived from Chelsea and has signed a two-year contract at 4 million per season. The new number 9 will be under Stefano Pioli’s orders at Milanello on 26 July, now he may still enjoy some post-European vacation. The Franco-Senegalese full-back arrives on a permanent transfer from Monaco for 4.5 million euros, add-0ns included. The Spanish midfielder, on the other hand, returns from Real Madrid on a costly two-year loan with the right to buy for 22 million. Real Madrid will have a buy-back clause at 27 million euros. Brahim will take Hakan Calhanoglu’s number 10 jersey.

However, AC Milan will not stop here. Stefano Pioli’s team is yet to be completed and the Italian coach is missing five players:

  • A right-back, Calabria’s back-up;
  • A central midfielder;
  • A right winger;
  • An attacking midfielder;
  • A striker.

In attack, Maldini and Massara’s idea is to take a young player to grow up under the wing of two experienced strikers like Ibrahimovic and Giroud. The hottest name is that of Kaio Jorge, the 19-year-old plays for Santos and his contract runs down in December 2021. Santos are asking 10 million but an agreement may be reached for half the fee.

Nikola Vlasic seems to be the favorite for the attacking midfielder role but CSKA Moscow is asking for €30 million. Instead, Hakim Ziyech is the dream for the right wing but not an easy operation. Chelsea spent 40 million in 2020 to buy Ziyech from Ajax and will not offer any discounts. Domenico Berardi has a similar price tag.

Diogo Dalot and Alvaro Odriozola of Real Madrid are the two option for the right side of the defence. While in midfield the return of Tiemoue Bakayoko is a realistic possibility. The Frenchman has returned to Chelsea after his one-year loan at Napoli. Marseille’s Kamara is Paolo Maldini’s top pick but 20 million are needed.

Obviously, sales will also be fundamental in order to operate on the incoming mercato. Maldini and Massara will have to sell some players in these weeks so they can have a higher budget available for purchases. The Rossoneri have invested almost 60 million in signings so far.
