AC Milan set meeting with Dinamo Zagreb star

After Pepe Reina and Ivan Strinic, sporting director Massimiliano Mirabelli is ready to close another signing on a free transfer like Alen Halilovic from Hamburg. But another Croatian can accompany Halilovic at his San Siro adventure.

The Rossoneri manager continues to look around for good opportunities. In the meantime, however, he is always vigilant about interesting young players that can conquer Europe in the future. According to Tuttomercatoweb, the Red and Blacks are interested in Filip Benkovic, centre back of Dinamo Zagreb. This week Mirabelli has scheduled a meeting with the player’s agents. Benkovic has a contract till 2022 and Dinamo Zagreb value him at around 15 million euros.

The soon to be 21 year old has started his career in Dinamo Zagreb’s youth ranks and with the first team has already collected 76 appearances (an excellent number for his age), scoring on 6 occasions and also providing 3 assists.

Filip Benkovic is solid in defense, uses well his height (1.94 m high) in areal duels and has ample room for further improvement in the future. The upcoming meeting with his agents will be crucial to understand if it is possible or not to start a serious negotiation. Apparently the Rossoneri do not want to be caught unprepared if Gustavo Gomez, Mateo Musacchio and, perhaps, even Cristian Zapata leave AC Milan this summer.
