Atletico Madrid sign Nikola Kalinic: the details

AC Milan have closed another sale. After the departures of Bonucci and Gustavo Gomez today it was Nikola Kalinic’s turn to say goodbye.

Nikola Kalinic can already be considered a player of Atletico Madrid. Only the official announcement is missing. The Croatian centre forward moves to Spain on a permanent transfer and AC Milan will earn 15 million euros from his departure to be paid in 4 installments over the next 3 years.

Not a big deal for the Rossoneri club observes La Gazzetta dello Sport. However considering Kalinic’s last season performances the Red and Blacks could hardly pretend for more. Atletico Madrid’s bid was the only offer that AC Milan received for the 30 year old striker.

Even though Kalinic was paid 25 million euros last summer ago, in his first season at San Siro he only scored 6 goals in 41 appearances. As if that wasn’t enough he was excluded from the Croatian national team at the World Cup. In addition, the long time that this operation took to conclude had a negative effect on AC Milan’s other negotiations with Bernard unwilling to wait any longer and joining Everton instead.
