Amid Barcelona links, Rafael Leao changes agent
AC Milan striker Rafael Leao has decided to change his long-time representative Nelson Almeida and join powerful agent Jorge Mendes.
Rafael Leao is undoubtedly the most positive aspect of this season’s start for AC Milan. Thanks to a spectacular goal against Fiorentina and many other good appearances he has earned the respect of the fans and the club.
Paolo Maldini and Zvonimir Boban were convinced that they had signed a potential champion snatching him from Lille for €28 million. Born in 1999, Leao had already showcased his skills in France. Now the Portuguese talent is confirming himself also in Serie A in a different position.
The 20-year-old has played mostly as left winger but perhaps Stefano Pioli could give him a chance as central striker in place of Krzysztof Piatek, just like against Genoa in the second half. Meanwhile, there are important developments regarding the change of his agent.
Calciomercato reports that Rafael Leao has made the transition from Nelson Almeida to Jorge Mendes. The powerful Portuguese agent, who takes care of the interests of so many established champions (Cristiano Ronaldo above all), had set his sights on him for a long time and now has finally convinced Leao to join his Gestifute roster. A very important move that can have serious implications regarding the transfer market.
Recently Barcelona have expressed interest in Leao. The Blaugrana club are following closely the growth and progress of the Rossoneri starlet. However, the Spanish giants will have to deal with Milan who have no intention of giving up their gem. The Rossoneri want to focus heavily on him for the present and the future. Coach Pioli is thinking of making him a fixed part of the attacking trio but this time not as winger, like whith Marco Giampaolo, but as centre forward, which has always been his natural role.
