Chelsea lower asking price for Milan target, agreement close

AC Milan are close to reaching an agreement for Tiemoue Bakayoko with Chelsea willing to lower their asking price.

When the summer transfer window opens AC Milan are expected to make an important singing in midfield. The names being linked with the Rossoneri are the usual: Sandro Tonali, Florentino Luis and Tiemoue Bakayoko.

The Italian prodigy costs 40 million euros. Benfica are open to sell Florentino but it will be for a similar price thus the most easy option for AC Milan is the French defensive midfielder.

According to journalist Nico Schira, Bakayoko is not part of Frank Lampard’s plans and Chelsea have decided to sell him this summer. Schira reports that Chelsea are willing to let him go for at least 20 million euros.

That figure is music to AC Milan’s ears and Paolo Maldini is already negotiating a deal. The player is eager to return in Italy reports La Gazzetta dello Sport. The only obstacle is the high salary of Bakayoko who currently ears 7 million per season at Chelsea. Nevertheless, the 25-year-old midfielder is ready to spread his wages in a five-year deal.

AC Milan signed Tiemoue Bakayoko on a one-year loan in 2018. After a difficult start the former Monaco became a key player for AC Milan making 42 appearances. At the end of the season he returned to England after Milan refused to exercise their option of 40 million euros.
