Di Marzio: AC Milan have made final decision on Pioli

AC Milan find themselves at the bottom of their Champions League group with Stefano Pioli again under fire for the negative results.

The new season has started in an awful way for AC Milan. It’s only November but the Rossoneri are practically out of the Champions League having won only match in five. At the same time, Stefano Pioli’s squad are six points in Serie A behind Inter and have clearly showed in the 5-1 derby defeat that they cannot compete against their city rivals.

However, negative results are only one part of the problem. AC Milan have a staggering number of players injured with over 30 cases in three months. Coach Stefano Pioli is again under fire for the poor results of AC Milan and the poor athletic preparation of the players with the vast majority of injuries being of muscular nature.

The fans are furious and have been quite vocal on wanting Pioli out. AC Milan owner Gerry Cardinale was also furious after the defeat against Borussia Dortmund. The American did not join the team in the locker room at the end of the match and also did not met Pioli. Instead, a meeting was held today at Casa Milan with CEO Giorgio Furlani also present.

Sky Sport journalist Gianluca Di Marzio reports that AC Milan will not be sacking Stefano Pioli. The Italian coach has been given other chance despite his team being practically out of Champions League. “There appear to be no signs of distrust towards Pioli” reports Di Marzio. The Rossoneri also feel that there are no good options on market for the coaching job.

Antonio Conte would be a great solution but he does not want to take charge of a team in mid season but only next summer. His high salary is an issue as well. Club legend Andriy Shevchenko has offered himself but, although he did a great job with Ukraine, he flopped in Italy with Genoa. An internal solution can’t be excluded with Ignazio doing a fantastic job with the Primavera squad.
