Di Marzio: AC Milan have two plans for the new defender

Gianluca Di Marzio confirms AC Milan’s intention to sign an important name for the defence but a striker may not arrive after all.

The priority of AC Milan in the January transfer window is going to be a new defender. The injury of Simon Kjaer was a big blow for the Rossoneri who lost a leader and one of the most important players until the end of the season.

Italian journalist Gianluca Di Marzio reports that Maldini would like to make an important investment for the purchase of a new defender but everything depends on the transfer budget that will be made available by Elliott Management.

After Kjaer’s injury, the priority of AC Milan is to replace the Danish defender. Therefore a new centre back will arrive at Milanello, with Maldini and Massara waiting to understand if the club will make an important transfer budget available for this operation as early as January.

If so, then the Rossoneri will try to anticipate a purchase for next summer. Among the names AC Milan really like are those of Sven Botman of Lille, a difficult operation, and Bremer of Turin. Otherwise, (if an important fund is not made available) Milan will work on loan solutions, looking for the opportunity among the redundancies of big clubs.

In this context, paying attention to the name of Chelsea defender Malang Sarr. In attack, on the other hand, there should be no movements because the injured Ante Rebic and Rafael Leao will return in January.”
